As we go through our sacramental preparation for Confirmation, Confirmation saints are chosen to be a person we want to be like, as well as someone who can pray for us from heaven.

Through the process of canonization, when someone is declared by the Church to be a saint, the Church is proclaiming that this member of the faithful practiced heroic virtue during their life on earth, ‘the Church recognizes the power of the Spirit of holiness within her and sustains the hope of believers by proposing the saints to them as models and intercessors’ (CCC 828).

To aspire to be like a saint is the same as trying to imitate an actor, musician, or athlete; a confirmation saint is someone cool who we want to be like.

It is important to remember that as members of the Church, we are never been alone, as St. Paul said, ‘We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses’ (Hebrews 12:1). These witnesses are the saints who continually intercede for us (CCC 956); in choosing a confirmation saint, we are choosing a special friend to intercede for us in heaven and after whom we can model our lives while here on earth.

You can’t call up a famous person you want to be like and ask them for help, but your Confirmation saint is someone who you can talk to whenever you need them and they will always have your back!

  This project is designed to get to know your saint very well.  Completing this early in the year will better help you discern if this  Saint has the virtues that you feel will give you the support you need and who you most have a connection to.  Afterall, your saint will be with your for the rest of your life - so you want to make this one you like and can relate to.  

When done with reverence and tenacity, this project should lead you into a deeper desire to know God and live a more faithful life.  You'll notice that God didn't pick perfect people to be his Saints - but He chose the ones with the softest hearts.    

 You will be responsible for gathering information and reporting out all the things you have learned about your saint.  It's best NOT to WAIT until the last moment, because it comes up quickly.  The earlier you get started looking at various saints, the better your experience will be.  

Directions for creating your Saint Board:  DUE October 26, 2019

• Use a trifold board - any size is fine
• Include your Saint's Name at the top 
• Include a recent picture of you with your name below so parishioners know who you are
• Make it creative to your taste
• Bring your saint to life in some way that would draw someone to read your board
• Include interesting things about your saint - relate them to you..

Choose a virtue and Live your life according to their virtue as much as possible.....See directions below... this is also in your binder.

You will have 3 weeks to incorporate the virutes you love best about your saint into your daily life.You cannot tell anyone which virtue you're working on, just do your best to try it out.  Use daily prayer and ask your saint to intercede on your behalf.   Be real with this project.  The more you put into this the more you will find out about yourself.  Here is a clue...if nobody has noticed something different about you through the process, then you should probably start trying different tactics.....   
You will keep a journal and report out what happened, what worked and what didn't work, what you could have done a better job at, etc.  You'll reflect on how lincoportating the virtues changed your life.
