St. Andrew Catholic School offers strong academics while ensuring all things we do emulate our Catholic values. Students learn about new virtues each week, each grade takes turns with monthly service projects, and every classroom is assigned a Corporal Work of Mercy.

We invite you to join us and experience a school that seeks to build and deepen the Catholic faith of its students. This will lead them to seek to know The Good, The True, and The Beautiful which leads us to Him.

Preschool Curriculum

Our 3 year old program focuses on the social and emotional development of students. It will be centered on the following areas:

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Sensory Rich Experiences
Creative Curriculum

At the 4 year old and young 5 level, play will begin to be guided to align with what is being studied at that time. An emphasis on phonemic awareness, identifying individual sounds in a whole word, and number sense activities will help our students be prepared for what lies ahead in Kindergarten. As with all things we do at St. Andrew, we will use developmentally appropriate methods to help our 4 and 5 year olds cultivate a greater sense of our Catholic faith. This will happens through extensions from our CGS lessons, studying of saints, and virtues.

Full day children will expect to receive guided choice activities specifically designed for their individual needs (academic or sensorial), added outdoor time and our young 5 students will have the option to attend Kindergarten specials.

K-8th Grade Curriculum

Religion- Spirit of Truth by Sophia Institute, TOBET: Theology of the Body and Education in Virtues
English/ Language- Being A Reader and Being A Writer for Grades K-5, Loyola Press for Grades 6-8
Math- Progress in Math by Sadlier
Science- Multiple Literacies in Problem Based Learning (ML-PBL)
History- Teacher's Curriculum Institute (TCI) and Catholic Textbook Project
Handwriting- Zane-Bloser

Meet the Staff
	Amy Evans - Preschool 3 Lead Teacher Amy Evans has four children, and went back to school in 2019 to earn an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught at a local preschool for the last few years before joining St. Andrew. Along with her associate’s degree, Amy has a Master of Science in Psychology. She enjoys gardening, exploring nature, and riding bikes with her family.

	Janet Cook - Preschool Director, Preschool 4 and Young 5s Lead Teacher Janet cook was the Director of Faith Formation for Prek- 8th grade at St. Andrew before our school opened and she started working with our preschool. Before joining St. Andrew she has over 20 years experience teaching in grades K-2. Janet has a BS in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University, and MA in Elementary Teaching from Marygrove College, has a 4 year certificate from Catholic Biblical School of Michigan, and is certified for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1, 2 and Infant/Toddler. Janet enjoys knitting, bike riding, walking trails, boating, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family.

	Patricia Strassburg - Kindergarten Patricia Strassburg has 15 years teaching experience in both preschool and kindergarten, and was voted favorite teacher in 2023 by Ann Arbor Family. She has a Bachelor of Science and Elementary Teaching Certificate, and enjoys the outdoors, hiking or spending quiet time enjoying God’s outdoor creations.

	Kristin Talaga - First Grade Kristin Talaga is the very first teacher hired at St. Andrew Catholic School. She comes to us from St. Clement of Rome School in Des Peres, MO. Kristin has been teaching for over 10 years. Saline is her husband’s hometown, so upon hearing about our new school, Kristin felt the Holy Spirit calling her to bring her family here and be part of building this community. Kristin earned her Masters of Education from Notre Dame University of Maryland and her BA from Saint Louis University, majoring in Education and Psychology and minoring in Theology. She is looking forward to getting to know the students and families, and having her own children be part of our parish and school.

	Audrey Single - Second/Third Grade Audrey Single brings so much joy, zeal for God, and passion for teaching to our school. She received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Lourdes University and has experience teaching Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grade.

	David Fiske - Sixth/Seventh Grade David Fiske will be an upper elementary teacher at St. Andrew and has over 20 year’s experience working in Saline Area Schools. He is excited about joining St. Andrew to help set the foundation for growth and greatness, and is excited that the school is founded on God’s love, a love for our community and a love for prospective students and their families. David has his BA of Education and Masters of Education from University of Michigan. David enjoys rowing and founded the Saline High School rowing team.

  Once you have decided St. Andrew Catholic School is right for your child, the following are required for pre-admission:
  Complete initial meeting with Fr. John Linden
  Schedule visit with principal
  Complete enrollment application with FACTS (online)
  Complete and sign Diocese of Lansing Family-School agreement
  Complete and sign St. Andrew Catholic School Family Covenant
  Read and sign last page of Parent Handbook K-7 or Preschool Handbook
  Birth Certificate
  Baptismal Certificate (if applicable)
