My Faith is everything to me. Without it, I would have nothing. God is the first one I think of in the morning and the last one at night. Faith is something you cannot take for granted. My Faith tells me there are better things to come.
Years ago, I had a nun tell me that if you don’t use your faith, you will lose it. It is a gift from God. I was given this gift as a child, and I bought the whole package.
The Good Lord has saved my life more than once. When I was 10 years old, my parents had a summer cottage on Sugar Loaf Lake. One day, a friend and I rowed a boat across the lake, exploring a marshy area. As we walked along, all of a sudden I stopped. I looked in front of me, then looked again. I didn’t know why I stopped, but then I saw, curled up at the base of an ant hill, a rattlesnake. A couple more steps and there’s no way I would have made it, being on the far side of the lake. There was no reason I should have not taken those steps, except God stopped me.
A few years ago, my wife went in for a checkup. They found a spot on her pancreas. I asked Fr. Solanus [Blessed Solanus Casey] to protect my wife; please don’t let it be cancerous. When the report came back, it wasn’t cancer.
I put myself in His hands. I feel that I cannot go wrong that way.
