My Name is Steve Anthony; I am a husband and father of 2 little angels in Heaven and 1 soon to be on Earth (4/2/22). I have been a Christian my entire life, born Methodist and raised Congressional and Nazarene which are both offshoots of Methodism. I always considered myself strong in my Christian Faith, but was never significantly exposed to Catholicism. I have several family members in the Catholic Faith, but did not join in their Catholic life. I occasionally went to Catholic Mass with some Catholic friends in college just so that I got some exposure to Christ, but that was it. My Catholic life did not start for me until I met my Wife (dating at the time) Annie, who is a devout Catholic and comes from a family of devout Catholics. She made it clear to me that she would want to raise a family Catholic and because Catholicism is part of Christianity, I was ok with that concept. I did not know how important it would become in my life. As we entered St. Andrews in 2017, we knew immediately that this was a church we wanted to call home. We started attending masses every week and I became more and more exposed to the Catholic principals, learning what makes us different than our protestant Brothers and Sisters. As my time in the church continued, I started understanding the significance of the Eucharist and how it was different and more divine than protestant Communion. I wanted to be a part of that. After my Wife and I wed at St. Andrews in 2018, I started expressing a desire to join the Catholic ranks. I attended classes to learn what I was missing, and did some additional reading and talking to Father John to fill in my knowledge base. I decided in 2021 that this is truly what my heart wanted. I am happy to say that I will be receiving my first communion in February of 2022. [Editor’s note: Steve made a Profession of Faith and received the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on February 20th. Please continue to reach out to him in prayer and friendship.]
